You Don't Need to be 100% Vegan

We all know veganism is the best lifestyle for most people but maybe you're not in the position to jump fully in yet.

And that's okay.

99% vegan is better than 0% vegan.

"But how do I start?"

Go Cruelty Free!

The one thing I can assure you will be able to do is go cruelty free with your makeup. There is no excuse for not doing this and it is something everyone should be doing. It is 2017 and makeup is still being tested on animals? Come on now!

Here are a few brands that are currently cruelty free:

Cruelty free brands won't break the bank and will make you feel a little better about purchasing that lipstick!

Meatless Mondays

Meatless Mondays are a great step in the right direction, even your omnivorous family can get involved!

Plan one day a week (It doesn't have to be Monday, lol) to go meatless. The official Meatless Monday website has tonnes of recipes to choose from including my favourites: French Lentil Salad with Cherry Tomatoes, Spinach Lasagne, Black Bean Sesame Veggie Hash, and Kale, Potato and Carrot Curry.

As you get into the habit of going meatless one day a week, make it two days, then three, then four and so on. Before you know it you'll be eating less meat and trying brand new flavours.

Swap Dairy for Plants

Swap dairy milk for plant milk!

Dairy milk is easy to replace, there are so many different plant milks to choose from. Oat is my personal favourite.

  • Soy milk
  • Hemp milk
  • Almond milk
  • Hazelnut milk
  • Oat milk
  • Rice milk
  • Coconut milk
You can buy plant milks from your local supermarkets and they have longer shelf life!

Don't replace - add!

Begin incorporating more whole grains, beans, legumes, tofu, nuts, and seeds into your diet. Don't think of this as a replacement, think of it as adding new flavours to your lifestyle.

I hope these tips are helpful to you if you are trying to live a more cruelty free lifestyle.

Please comment below any others you may have!
